A magical day -

Will shot today with Amy and JP of AJ's Photography (http://www.weloveweddings.com); he mostly ran their photo booth for them, but had some fun as well...

We did a "first look" with the couple and I couldn't help myself -- I just had to get a picture of the bride's hand while she waited for her groom...

...and again when she groped him.

Here's my favorite shot of the bunch; I caught the father of the bride looking pensive during their dance.

As always, constructive criticism is greatly appreciated.

I love the one of the pinned on flower. The exposure is perfect.

I think that's my favorite shot. Well... I love several. But the colors are just perfect in that.

I really like the first one. It has a melancholy feeling which probably doesn't go with the happy topic of weddings but that I just like. Melancholy and fragile. I think. Plus I like the newness of the petals against the oldness of the worn floorboards. There's something in there around new marriage and lifetime love and the continuation of lovers uniting in marriage that they are only a small part of through the years.

The flower pinning one is lovely too, as is the final black and white one which would be a lovely memory for the father and the bride. (although maybe it could have been framed differently to focus more on the father and less on the brides back and the space behind. It isn't overly flattering to her but it's a lovely shot of him.)

Obviously I'm not a photographer at all, but that's just what I think of the pictures from a viewers standpoint.

Is the file of the dad+bride large enough to try a vertical crop to achieve this?

It is, but I sorta liked the way the shot is set up. That's actually the groom in back with his mother. It just seemed like such a great shot of the whole "parents" dance.

I know where you're coming from, but at the same time... you can't see the groom's mother (or if you can, you can't tell it's her for sure), and it's not a good view of the groom anyway, so it might be a better choice to crop it & focus in more on the father of the bride).

Just my opinion though- do what you like.

in my opinion, i think photographs with a bit like that in the back makes it more real. perfection just doesn't work in photography sometimes

I really wish you wouldn't spoil the images with the watermark ALL OVER the images. In my opinion it's far more distracting than it is protecting.

Now that I've got that off my chest... I'd like to say I love the shots! My only critique would be to crop in the shot of them under the star to just the star, the canopy, and the minister and them.... I think it'd make it more intimate.

Great job!

Thanks! The watermark is a work in progress. I'm going to have to play with it some and see if I can get it set up a little better.

Your logo thing is even a tad distracting, but that I understand. The words flooding the whole image just gets in the way for me.

Yeah. We don't use any of the watermarking on our website, but we put them up when we post here.

Well that's good.... I think it's terribly bad form to show customers photos that are watermarked... even online.

There were only a couple of us in the room, so I don't think they really were thinking about it. It was a very sweet moment.

Unless you tell us you don't want us, I think that you can pretty much assume that we'll be there.
