Dave and Lisa were one of the first couples that we photographed back in the day, and needless to say, we were thrilled when they found out they were expecting! Little man S joined their family earlier this month and we had such a fun evening capturing his newborness. He even pulled out a new look for us: think Blue Steel from Zoolander. He was all a-pucker and his parents just kept cracking up. He's definitely going to be a performer, this one. And we can't wait to watch him grow!

Baby M is one strong little man. He was born with a heart condition that will necessitate surgeries in his early life-- the first of which will be this week. We were thrilled to capture images not just of his adorable little newborness (at home, our favorite place to do newborn sessions) but also to document what he looked like before he got his battle scars. He was so cute and feisty and we know that he's going to come through everything like a champ!

We've been woefully neglectful at posting sessions during the crazy few weeks that have just passed, and I'll be getting caught up here in the next couple of weeks. But this one just couldn't wait...

We photographed Baby M and his family at home early this week, just as the snows set in. I love doing newborn sessions at home, where everything reflects their life and style, but this one was a particularly special experience. They are a wonderful, amazing family and being able to be a part of their life with Baby M was a truly beautiful thing. Though this was not your typical newborn session, we loved the images that we were able to capture and hope that their family and friends will as well.

We photographed Baby M the other night at home. He was ten days old but already beginning to emerge from the newborn fog. It's amazing how fast that happens. It meant that we were able to get some awake shots, but also that he didn't want to be curled up for the life of him. And that little boy has some strong legs, so there was no coaxing. It was ok, though. We got some pictures that I think his parents (and Grandma Jackie!) are going to die for.

While we were at our family's lake cabin (pictures which are yet to be posted!), we did a shoot with Will's new little cousin, A. She celebrated her six-week birthday while we were there, so she's not quite newborn. But she's cute and chubbly and we couldn't resist doing some photos with her. It's too bad that she doesn't live in Portland because she would definitely be becoming a Milestones baby!

We had planned to do Baby A's shoot a few weeks ago, as a "true" newborn session, but there were some complications and so we did her session at the ripe old age of six weeks. It was an exciting and slightly emotional session for me-- I've known their family of four boys for quite some time, and when Baby A's mom found out that they were expecting, we all kind of held our breath and hoped. But when she was born, the shock was real for everyone. It was just too good to be true! Photographing her in all of her sweetness made for a very happy me, and hopefully for her family too! And I'll get to be seeing a lot more of her too because she'll be a Milestones baby. I can't wait to see her grow.

I shot Baby S's newborn sesssion at her home on Monday. She's just three weeks old (we were supposed to do it last week but she got sick) and is so calm and precious. We did some of the session in her bedroom and some in her parents room on their great big bed. It was a wonderful morning.
